How would I go about doing that? And I wonder if certain health issues would preclude someone from being a donor.

A lot of different health issues will prevent someone from being a donor. Blood type is the first thing they look at before they even go into HLA typing for the actual marrow.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend anyone doing it if they didn't need to. Like, I wouldn't expect a complete stranger to do it. Most people get on the donor list because they have a family member in need.

To get on the registry, it's just a cheek swab, but the actual bone marrow biopsies/aspirations are, yes.

JCW & squirt- you guys have good blood types. About 40% of the population has O+ blood (which is good for you)
