I realise that I have a past to break with--an accumulation of inertia, wrong, foolishness, rot, junk. A great need of clarification, of mindfulness, or rather, of no mind. A need to return to genuine practice, right effort. Need to push on the great doubt. Need for the spirit. Hang on to the clear light.

the old farts really liked that one

I just read an article the other day about retiring overseas and being able to do it on SS alone. Pretty cool.

i live in a cardboard box in the gutter, so it is pretty cheap for me to live here
quint Wrote:looks like a nice place

you can get by here without speaking spanish as it's a tourist area
if you don't speak spanish, you are not living in mexico, imo
justintime Wrote:More importantly, how likely am I to not get robbed, stabbed, or shot at there?
if you are not a gang member, your chances of getting robbed, stabbed or shot are very slight
local, state and federal police, as well as a military presence keeps the criminal element at bay
mexico is very dependent on the tourist dollar, playa del carmen is a very safe place to live
probably safer than most cities in the US

very expensive for mexico
labor is cheap here
good block layer makes a little over 100 dollars a week
i just had a palapa roof put on a storage area, and a cement floor, area about twelve by 20
labor and materials, less than 400 dollars

here are a couple of my mayan sculptures
ya know, it's hard living in the gutter, but someone has to do it
the bottom one was made special for me
it is an original piece by a mayan artist
he makes me promise never to tell how much i pay him

Are those girls the best example you could come up with? Not often you see asses that fat that are still flat.

Snarg, i'm not sure how educated you are on mayan history, but tell me again how the mayans accounted for "leap year" in their calendar. I remember them explaining it on a tour of the ruins of Tulum, but I've forgotten it now. It was pretty damn ingenious for a bunch of people back then though.
Also, how the fuck did those indians find their way to the coast to build that clock thing at Tulum? Holy shit, that brush was so thick it didn't seem like anything could get through it. and it was miles and miles of driving through that stuff. I can't imagine what that journey must have been like back when they found that spot.
