We have a few mods and admins, not tons. And not all of them are on, or are reading all the threads. If you see a word you truly find offensive that we haven't caught, pass it on to an admin, or mod. We'll look into it.

I'm 100% certain you and I are on the same page here when using the word "nigger" in reference to an African American. I know I kinda put myself out there. I knew that nobody would keep the thread on topic, and that was half the point of starting the thread. I did start this thread with a question, however, and I was hoping that people would address the question, and not just the N word on its own.

"Nigger" and "sand nigger" have two completely different meanings. One is racial towards a person of African American descent, the other is directed towards someone of Middle Eastern descent. Anyone have an opinion on this? When you see "sand nigger" do you think of an African American or do you think of someone from the Middle East? I bet none of you can see the "sand" part of the statement. How is calling someone a "camel jockey" ANY different than calling someone a "sand nigger?" Is one more politically correct than the other? Or are they both equally derogatory?

He's actually put forth a lucid and thought out argument in this thread - even if I thought he could have started the thread better.

As for having his ideas on the rules looked into: We're not in the habit here of making a heirarchy or considering one member worth more or less, unless they go out of their way to be a sub-standard member ('sup bird33?)

I will say again, Bimmer has not gone about trying to get his point across in a very good way. Using THIS thread as the basis for what I said, here are what I see Bimmers points as :

- Where is the line? We throw around fag (itself a pretty hateful word) and other terms with little or no consequence. Why the word nigger? Are we protecting against racism, really? Or are we having a knee-jerk reflex to a word steeped in hatred and racism?

- Word vs Use: In this thread, and the one you linked to, he is trying to ask if the word nigger is not allowed, or if only racist use of the word nigger is not allowed. I've used it three times in this post so far, and doubt it will be edited by any mod, or bear any consequence, because it isn't being used in a racist/hateful way.

The definitions of both those words have a broad range of meanings, contexts and interpretations. But 'nigger' does not, IMO.

I'm not really interested in his board, or how they use any words there. In their shibboleth "catty" could be the worst kind of hate reference - the way you say in ours fag isn't.

I've never defended his way of getting this point across - I think it was severely lacking. I will however, grant that he has very good points, and raised good questions.
