I'm Considering Getting a Part Time Job
#1

Driving through the toll booth today I noticed a sign:

"Now Hiring Part Time Help, $10.70 an hour."

Fuck, that's pretty close to what I make an hour right now. Guess I might as well call and see if I can get hours from like 6 in the evening to 10 or 11 during the week and maybe an 8 hour shift on the weekends. I also think it might help me out with bills and shit seeing how I'm digging myself into debt. Thoughts? Would you fuckers ever consider working part time?

I'll let you be in my dreams if I can be in yours

I took a part time job back in college to make up some ground on my bills. I worked as a janitor cleaning buildings in the evening. I'd get off of work at 5 p.m. and grab a bite to eat. Then a buddy and I would get stoned out of our minds and clean 2 or 3 buildings. It was a pretty good job... but we never did a good job of cleaning. I guess the weed didn't help our cleaning.

I do it every year during the holidays. Good way to pay off debt.

Fuck.

I don't need to anymore but back when I was younger I used to go work for UPS during the Holidays. It was $18.50/hour sorting packages and I was doing about 30 hours a week on top of my other job. I was worn out but the $$$$$ was righteous.

Get a bartending job. You get to drink for free, hit on females (job requirement), and between $150 and $250 a night.

I've considered it, but never terribly seriously...

only thing in my contract says i can't moonlight, which is pretty fucked up considering i could bank doing side drafting work. i'm gonna call them up tonight...maybe having a 2nd job will make the woman feel like a cheap whore for not helping out with shit around the house.

no, well It's quite standard here (in Switzerland) no part time job allowed, as well as others obligations. But I'm not complaining on my salary.

hardly...she works 30 hours and goes to school 13 hours, which doesn't leave her much time for helping out with stuff around the house or money, although I have a feeling she could if she would budgit herself better, plus the wedding is coming up so I'd like to make sure everything gets paid for.

moonlight for people outside your competition....ie Architect/engineer.

I used to have the same kinda rules, but I found that as long as it's not for the competition it's not as bad.

as for the part time job, I used to clean an office for a local oil company once every two weeks...they paid me with free heating oil so there was about 3 years where my house stayed 75 degrees in the winter, for basically nothing.

Well indeed that's the problem, why don't you hire some kind of part time maid to do the cleaning and stuff ?

You have the cad skills. Learn how to make signs. You will have to find out what kind of printing equipment you need, but it can't be that expensive. Realtors, developers, construction companies, etc.. all have to get wooden signs made to advertise land or an upcoming development. They hire them out to people. Night work for you.

have to have money to pay the maid, which i don't. fuckin' whole paycheck goes to the house, leaving me with a credit card to live off of for 2 weeks (very stupid idea, hopefully it will make her realize she needs to help out when I'm 2 grand in dept)...but with a part time job I could hire a maid. My mom cleans houses, maybe one every day or something.

Most of them I've seen around her are painted sheet metal signs, but that is a good idea.

from what I see you seem to be quite on a "tended flow". Try to talk with your banker to change the house payments to give you some air.

Anyway that could be a tricky calculus to do (checking that the longer paiement & interest rate could zero that)
