I don't know the pool biz but I would have expected that 2 pools in a season is not so good, no? How does it work?

well that's exactly what I was wondering, did he meant something like "two normal sized pools and a half sized one" (all based on basis we don't know and applying ratios to atomic thingies -atomic like things that you can't subdivise-).

Or there is still the possibility that the 1/2 one will have one side of the pool with raw mud walls....you know "amazonia style".

in this case, building two and a half pools this year means finishing two of them and getting one up to gunite so it can then sit over winter and resume construction at the appropriate time in order to complete the pool and the crib at the same time.
