I'm talking about all unions in general.Of course changes need to be made to the car unions. Our construction unions ARE the model the rest of the world follows.Any thoughts on that? How about a little credit to the unions who built the middle class you aspire to enter?

Unions damn near destroyed this country during the depression. Mainly because of the National Labor Relations Act.

unions protects the workers from having abusive decisions taken upon them.

Historically people always had been exploited without unions. People fighted and died for the creations unions, people who were otherwise forced to work in atrocious conditions for a insanely low wage (see industrialisation in England)

The negative effect people cite was it forced employers to pay higher wages which ultimatly helped all workers but in the short term hurt business. It was a stepping stone to being the #1 super power in the world. My understanding is that act was mainly to allow people to organize and protest unfair labor practices and had no effect on creating the great depression mainly because it didnt exist until 6 years into it.Prior to that unions werent that strong and didnt gain any real power until after WW2.

We provide tractor coverage for them, so thats a good thing, doesnt come out of their pocket. The union covers all their medical and retirement. They get a set rate for every thing, whether its a union move or not. Those are the only benefits.

The non union companies have whored themselves out down here. Their rates are to the floor. The union companies down here are hurting badly, while their work is being taken by pirates, and the union officials just sit back and do nothing. It's a lost cause and a corrupt one at that... I give the truckers local 2 more years before their out completely down here.
