f Kansas can have a SOS of #113 and lose convincingly to Missouri and STILL be ranked #5, Hawaii is right where they should be with their SOS of #119...at #12 in the BCS. I don't think they deserve to be higher, but comparatively, they don't deserve a lower ranking.
They traveled more than any other team in the country--15,000 miles, compared to LSU that never left the south and played all their tough games at home.
Michigan State was on the schedule and paid $250,000 to back out of it. Not Hawaii's fault. Michigan backed out a while back and so did Texas. In recent years they've beaten AZ, AZ St, Purdue, Ore St, #4 Ranked BYU, etc. They'll play whoever will commit. In recent years they've played Bama, USC, Wisconsin, Texas. Next year they open on the road at Florida. They're not padding their schedule with weak wins, they're just stuck in the WAC which is soft--they should be in the MWC.
The last time Oregon played in a Rose Bowl, coached by Rich Brooks, they had two losses on the year...one was to Hawaii.
They're not a football powerhouse, but they've earned their ranking. If your team is 8-3, 9-2 and didn't make it to a BCS game, then they shouldn't have lost those games. Hawaii has a Heisman candidate quarterback and three 1,000 yard, NFL-bound receivers. To think they'll get shut out by anyone...well, it's obvious you've never watched them play if you really think that. Complaining about Hawaii is just ignorance, sour grapes, or both.
