Are you still saying this was a "brushback pitch"?Watch the video again. If shit like this happened all the time guys would need body armor at the plate.

I bet you thought Clemens was a dick for hitting Piazza in the head that one time and knocking him silly. Its funny how allegiances play into this.

I must have missed the part where I argued that his suspension is unjust.

I'm a homer because I don't think a baseball player tried to murder his opponent? You ever throw an elbow in a basketball game? Assault and battery, dude, better go turn yourself in.

the ump shouldn't have granted time, that was the problem.

WoolyGoat Wrote:he called time pretty late, beckett had just begun to throw, and the ump granted time.

beckett threw anyway, as many pitchers do, he just threw it pretty high and tight. benches cleared, etc. etc.

I don't know how I interpreted this as a defense of Becketts actions.I apologize.

Nobody has ever been killed by an elbow in basketball.Do I need to do a google search on people killed by baseballs or can you acknowledge those two things have nothing to do with each other?

Dude was still in the box. Unfortunate reality of baseball.

Mop up the urine and tears.

honestly, if I knew you were going to start talking about fucking MURDER, I wouldn't have been overly dramatic about Abreu being a douchebag.

I defended it in the sense that it's a regular occurrence in the sport. Pitchers get high and mighty about all sorts of dumb stuff, and sometimes batters get thrown at. But, like everything, you've already made up your mind so you stopped listening/reading a long time ago because you know what's best.

And I didn't say throwing an elbow is attempted murder. By your idiotic stance, throwing an elbow in a Y game should be assault and battery, because someone could break a rib.

Bertuzzi didn't face criminal charges for his stunt.

Spreewell didn't receive a case for choking his coach.

I don't follow hockey and I know Bertuzzi got in trouble with the law.

Criminal charges filed against Bertuzzi in Vancouver resulted in a guilty plea and a sentence of one year's probation plus 80 hours of community service.

I'm not saying Beckett should be arrested but only because everything turned out ok.Its obvious he tried to bean bobby in the head or get close to his head when you watch the video.Bullshit on both accounts.

First its Bobby fault and now you've finally come around to the rest of the sports position on a guy throwing at someones head and I need to shut up?Hilarious.

This is exactly what I'm talking about with the kool aid mentality. This boston site breaks down the percentage of who was at fault in the incident and surprise! beckets only 1% at fault.I couldnt make that up.

I love the site, but come on, this post is about as fair and balanced as Fox News. Blame is about Beckett - 68%, Joe West - 31%, Abreu - 1%, and Varitek did not call for an inside fastball, he was set up outside, and Beckett should have been tossed for going towards the place yelling at Abreu AND yelling at Scioscia.
