As a black man my first reaction is "why it got to be a white girl" or something to that effect.What really struck me was this...

First off her name is Brittany Hotard and she started dating Austin when she was a senior and he was a sophomore. But ever since she graduated from Winter Park in ‘09 she’s basically been his shadow…going to most his HS games home and away and sitting by his mom to make sure she’s on the Austin River’s money train when it takes off.
To her credit she did go to a Wallace State Community College for a year where she cheered, while she’s been waiting on Austin to graduate.



He's been banging that since he was a sophomore.I bet she's majoring in home economics at Wallace State CC.

There is no doubt he told coach K from the start he'd jump after his freshman year. Coach K probably hoped he enjoyed it enough he'd come back... but its hard to pass up all that money. From what I have heard though.. the basketball lockout will go on longer than the NFL one and will definitely threaten the season.

As far as Duke is concerned... They are losing Smith, Singler, Irving and Peters. They are getting Austin Rivers whom is #1 shooting guard in the country. They are getting Quinn Cook whom is the 7th best point guard in the country. They are also getting SF GBinjie and C Plumlee.... They'll be alright.

As far as 2012 goes they landed a 6'8" SF white boy and another SG... They white boy is listed as the #1 SF in the country already...


Alex Murphy appears to be a good fit for the Blue Devils.
How do you see Alex Murphy fitting in at Duke and was that the right decision for him?

Bossi: First of all, I don't think anybody was surprised to see Murphy pick Duke. You kind of got the sense all along that he would fit in well there. As for whether the decision was right or not, that's up to Alex but he certainly seems a good fit. He's got the size to play some on the inside and out, is very crafty in getting himself open away from the ball. He can stretch defenses with the deep jumper.

Meyer: Murphy is a good player and would fit in fine most anywhere. Duke has had success with players like Murphy. Mike Dunleavy and Kyle Singler come to mind. I'm sure Duke sold Murphy on the fact that he can have success there as those guys did. And Murphy will, if he gets stronger and tougher, and improves the consistency of his long range shot.

I will bet anything the NBA lockout lasts no longer than 2 weeks and far less time than the NFL.Speaking of that, I was traveling for work yesterday and the big thing on sports radio was the David Akers health insurance sob story that was in the paper yesterday.

There is more to this dispute than lawyers and half-truths. There are real-life repercussions, and one of them is that the players now have begun paying for their health insurance under the federal COBRA law, and the sums have certainly gotten their attention.

For Akers, who has a family of five, the monthly hit is the equivalent of a mortgage payment. To insure himself, his wife, and their three young children, Akers must pay approximately $2,400 a month.

The cost, even to him, is significant.
