i'm just sayin' that the GOP "years" ago tried like hell to push for drilling up there. But no, you guys were too scared that it would ruin the ecology. So "you guys" left the only option to be in the gulf.

I get most of that, honestly. But how ironic is it that the tree huggers and hippies are in charge while the biggest, most collossal environmental catastrophe that this country has ever been remotely faced with ( x about 5) is going on with a chance that it might not can be stopped.

I mean every protest, every tree they saved, every bird they rescued, or plastic bag they recycled in the past 30 years pales in comparison to the environmental disaster that is taking place. And there is enough CO2 being emitted by this cleanup effort to cancel out every green car made or that will be made in the next 50 years.

So yeah the chickens are home and roosting.

You know you have danced around this exact same sentence about 50 times in the past several weeks. We get it. plastic is made from oil, etc. we all know that.

Maybe this country needs to stop trying to invent a car that gets 30 mpg instead of 25 mpg and figure out a way to make plastic that doesn't use oil.

I'm not sure I follow your point. Is your point that you want to make us aware that there are tons of other places that we can reduce our dependence on oil?

Or are you bringing this up so that we go out into the planet and start trying to get more of it so that we can continue to have those things?

Actually, whether you know it or not, you have stumbled upon the one thing that is most overlooked in this "oil addiction" bullshit that has been talked about by every politician for the past 30 years and nothing has been done about it.

All we talk about are battery powered cars. And carpooling. And city transportation instead of everyone driving to work. etc. No one talks about all of the other things that we do that consumes oil. Maybe that's where our focus needs to be. At the least the focus needs to be on all of these things equally.

We all know that until someone invents a car that can run as cheaply, easily, and effectively as current cars, that isn't going to change. So continuing to talk about that or get elected over that has pretty much run its course.

That list you supplied is interesting, but if those items totaled together only add up to 1% of the oil we consume, then it might be a moot point.

A shit ton of stuff thats made either with oil, by oil or from oil. The only people that don't use oil are third world countries. Going green is a great idea.... but how does Al Gore get to all of his conferences and speech destinations? Does he use a donkey?

Cars make a difference because we do so much luxury driving here. Just imagine how much gas a teen between 18 and 25 burn going out or to the mall.....


Its definitely in our best interest as a nation to explore other options. I'm just curious to see what they make that can power a jet.
