Gulf Oil Leak

BIRD33 Wrote:This Oil Rig situation and Katrina are not apples to apples.

Bush could have done something sooner and didnt.

Obama didn't act outraged enough.Thats his crime,

Obama has certainly not brought enough attention to this disaster. And yeah that's his crime. I was watching Fox News last night, because it comes on at 9 pm and I wanted to see how the thing was going that they were trying to cap the well with. Well, the lead in to the news was about 15 minutes of talking about American Idol. I think they had about a 1 minute thing saying they were attempting to cap the well but wouldn't know anything until tomorrow. Then the major news networks at 10 gave it about the same amount of coverage.

Nightline is about the only thing that I have been able to get much of a story about it, but nothing from any government officials. I did see that crazy Carville dude on CNN last night blasting the shit out of Obama for his lack of interest in the situation.

If Obama himself would just be down there, sleeves rolled up, walking the beaches. Helicopter flying the gulf, talking to experts, getting damage assessments, talking about what is still to come. What its going to take to recover. etc. If he was just doing that then the news would be covering this and surely BP would have reacted quicker to fixing it.

Its a purely ignorant view in my opinion. Jindal has pushed forth ideas from the beginning and he has received no answer as to whether he can do it or not. I don't follow party lines but its obvious that you and snarg do to a T. For that matter most Dems do.

haaaaaaaaaahahahahaha
i love the way you get yourself into these ridiculous situations and dig yourself in deeper and deeper
the walls are caving in on you, moron
your position has gone from bleak to hopeless

you are a complete tool and your accusations are baseless
nothing obama does or can do will ever please you, admit it and move on
for you to accuse others of that kind of thing is ludicrous
you just expose yourself as the idiot you are

I realise that I have a past to break with--an accumulation of inertia, wrong, foolishness, rot, junk.  A great need of clarification, of mindfulness, or rather, of no mind.  A need to return to genuine practice, right effort.  Need to push on the great doubt.  Need for the spirit.  Hang on to the clear light.

No. Any idea why they did it? I'm lead to believe they are doing it to recover some oil from the well while trying to figure out how to cap it without ruining the well.

Let me ask you this. What happens if this doesn't work? What will Obama do then?

The US government is not a oil cleanup company. Why do you expect there to be things in place to fix a private companies mistake?Wouldnt stronger regulation years ago helped prevent this?

I'll do it the same way you guys were doing things a few years ago. I'll wait to see what works and then say that he should have done whatever that was 38 days ago.

Go ahead and put me down now for saying "He should have tried this Top Kill method 38 days ago". But remember, if it doesn't work I get to wait until we find out what does work, then I can change my answer.

What would you have regulated to keep a pipe from coming unhooked at 5,000 feet underwater? Wait, let's see. Okay, bush should have had a regulation that said:

Reg 54.1.2.b. Oil Pipes at 5,000 feet deep: No oil pipe in the Gulf of Mexica that is 5,000 feet deep or more shall be allowed to come apart and leak oil into the Gulf.

That should have done it, right?

Bush's fault. Got it.

I'm trying to figure out how two of the smartest guys on the internet aren't doing more to save our world. Snarg created countless businesses and managed to make millions. You are working your sales job and living life to the fullest. You guys ever thought about politics? Quantum physics?

Seriously you are wasting your talents at IT.

HE HAD TO BE SHOWN VIDEOS TWO DAYS LATER!

Obama has been on the Louisiana beach from day 1. He hasn't had to watch video of whats going on.

I do find it ironic though that the same people that got fucked by Katrina are the ones getting fucked again by this oil leak. Sort of adds to the similarities as far as the blame stuff goes.

I think you know exactly what I am saying. All of that backlash Bush got after Katrina hit was a bunch of bullshit and you know it. It was all politically motivated and nothing more. I'm not saying that FEMA couldn't have done a better job and I'm sure they learned a ton after that whole situation. But reacting to disaster situations on this kind of scale can't be viewed under the same microscope that you view the more conventional much smaller disasters that are seen often enough that the level of response is known and tested.

I'm just preparing you for what it feels like when you watch a president get unfairly targeted for something that he has little control or experience with and regardless of what he did it wouldn't be enough. And the pundits can (and will) nit pick it all to death.

Personally I think its ridiculous and I see no difference in Bush's response to Katrina as I do Obama's response to this. Bush was shown to be "not involved or interested enough". And Obama is seen that same way now. And I personally don't think that is the case for either of them.
