Tough Quesiton of the Day 10/18/2005

suzy Wrote:.. if everyone followed these rules, there would a hell of alot of pedofiles running rampant in the streets though. A bunch of hypocrisy if you ask me.

Wrong and wrong.

First, would you care you point out where pedophilia comes into the judeo christian moral set?

And, secondly, if people followed the rules there would be no hypocrisy. The hypocrisy comes in when people claim to follow the rules, but don't.

I didn't say that christianity and the catholic church were not full of hyprocrites. However, you took a question of morals and came up with a post that has no rationale behind it whatsoever.

1. Despite what some people in the church may have done, the teachings of the church do not condone pedophilila.

2. The hypocrisy comes in, as I have said, from people claiming to follow the rules, and then not doing it. IF people did follow the rules, they would cease being hypocrites.

The problem here is your own hatred for the church got you post something which is patently untrue, but worse than that it highlighted how blinded you are by your own hatred. To be even more clear

Neither of your two comments in there address:
- pedophilia and why you would think the judeo-christian value set condones, or encourage it.
- why, if people followed (not just pretended to follow) those morals they would be hyprocrite. The judeo christian morals do not say things like "lie, but tell other people not to" If they did, they would be hypocritical. They don't.

Come up with some decent arguments, and something worth posting.

Morality is based on how you want to be treated and projecting that onto the people you come into contact with. The ten commandments are outdated and still favor slavery and women being less than equal as possessions.

The first commandments are based on you having Christianity as a faith. This to me makes you no more or less moral.

Interesting topic, BTW. Thanks

No doubt. Could a real admin lock this bizz-itch so it falls on the front page. I don't like the kind of posters it could attract.

Judeo/ Christian does not necessarily mean pedophilia but moving a Cardinal away from it and not punishing him for it does show that they condone it now. This goes all the way to the Pope and, if this were a corporation vs. a religion doing it, it would not have been let go like this.

Pedophile priests have been around for a long time. The church knows and has known this all along. How did they punish the priests? They moved them to unsuspecting parishes.

Just cause I can't participate in a debate about morals (sup Suzy?), doesn't mean I don't enjoy the finer points of intellectual debate. Carry on.
