I would push you out of the way as I dove to take the bullet. I would try to position myself such that the bullet did not penetrate any of my vital organs and insure that it did as little damage to me as possible. Then I would crawl to you to make sure that you were okay.
The people around us would stand with their mouths open saying, "Ahhhh, did you see that. That man just saved that man's life. And now he is helping him."
Then as they rushed to see how badly I was injured, I would tell them, "No, I'll be okay. Check on Terry. Make sure he is safe."
Once I knew that they were assisting you and you were safe, I would run after the gunman, tearing my shirt into quick bandages as I made chase. After I had a good wad of bandages, I would press them against the wound to control the bleeding.
I don't know if I would catch the gunman, since I would be injured and I don't know how far away he was or how much of a headstart he had.
