Anyone else blown away that 8 is defending a former oil executive who cheated in coach Shipley?If Jeffery Dahmer was in the oil industry 8 would just rave about how economical he was being by freezing those human body parts to eat later.



Less easily rationalized is the grand-tampering, which Shipley said was done by well-meaning academic "friends," though the NCAA said in its charges that the USL basketball staff was involved in arrangements for "fraudulent testing and certification."



The only way you can look at this situation as the coach helping people out and not cheating is if you think blacks were not smart enough to get into the university in the first place.

Its not that they weren't smart enough.. they were not welcome. They were viewed as second class citizens and they didn't deserve to be in college. They weren't given scholarships or allowed to stay anywhere on campus. It was a completely different time then.

I get that but to say the only way you could get past segregation was to allow black kids with poor grades into school is racist.Only blacks with sub 1.6 wanted to play college basketball?This is explaining away cheating of white people by pretending they were just looking out for the poor stupid blacks.

Explaining away racism aside...Why doesnt the NCAA handle or have a enforcement arm that watches for violations say divided by conference.What I'm saying and I read this somewhere so I'm paraphrasing brilliantly and succinctly is wouldnt it be easier for the universities and the teams if the NCAA had their own police force constantly on call to independently investigate possible violations of the rules?Isnt having the university handle policing themselves obviously not working and kind of like having the fox guard the hen house(perfect metaphor, yo)?Don't tell me the NCAA doesnt have money in the coffers to pay for this.Problem solved.Pay the brother.

I think a combination of what you brilliantly explained as well as a common sense makeover of the rulebook would make sense. big news this year is that schools will be able to provide cream cheese and other spreads with bagels to student athletes. really NCAA? cream cheese was a fucking problem?
