Despite the fact that the morning practice was closed to the public, a crowd of 6,240 showed for the afternoon practice. For the first time in camp, the Cowboys wore pads and went full contact.

It didn't take long for the fans to welcome the newest Cowboys star.

After Owens made a catch during a drill — without a defender on him — the crowd roared. They continued to do so after almost every one of Owens' catches (Bledsoe looked for him often). Apparently, they even cheered when he took a drink of water on the sideline in front of the bleachers.

"That was pretty good," coach Bill Parcells said. "It was hard to hear out there. It was loud."

Owens beat Terance Newman down the sideline, and the crowd went berserk.

"Unbelievable. It was crazy out there," Owens said. "I really appreciated it."

Oh.. and this story is fake. It's a copy of the story we ran on the first day of Eagles camp in 2004. Substitute Eagles for Cowboys, McNabb for Bledsoe, Reid for Parcells, and Lito Sheppard for Terence Newman, and you get the idea.

Just a friendly reminder to keep the long term outlook in perspective as we watch T.O. in Oxnard this summer....
