The Dictatorship of SanDoggyland is a huge, economically powerful nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 481 million are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

The large, corrupt, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Education. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 12%. A robust private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Pizza Delivery.

The Navy has outraged the international community by sinking a boatload of refugees to prevent them reaching the shore, citizens live in superstitious fear of the mysterious glowing clouds that float over SanDoggyland, children as young as twelve are conscripted into the armed forces, and abortion is only legal in unusual circumstances. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. SanDoggyland's national animal is the jellyfish, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the sand dollar.
