Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 5 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded morass -- juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Healthcare, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 40%, but much higher for the wealthy. A small private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Book Publishing and Arms Manufacturing.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Who gives a poop's national animal is the dog and its currency is the pork rine.
