2008 MLB predictions

WoolyGoat Wrote:Sox have the best record in baseball since August 1st, aka the post-Manny era.

That 3 month span is exactly the same thing as winning a world series. When you lose without him I can't wait for the "We didnt need him" bullshit when its obvious you guys did.

I after 3 years of shitting on good time Charlie Manuel am prepared to give him props for how he handled this team. They have many fragile minds like Rollins and Myers and he never gets to upset with thier antics and remains a very consistent manager that the team gets behind.

Mets are hilarious, my only hope is they make the wildcard just so the Phils have a chance to face them. They should blow up that team. They are not smart enough collectivly to ever win anything.I'll be happy if switching managers and upgrading the bullpen is all they do to try to fix the team in the offseason.
All they need is a decent bullpen. I think the rivalry has you reading some very biased opinions.
It's on the shoulders of Manuel (oh- Jerry) and his coaching staff to get the pitching where it should be. And it's not even close at all. Each reliever that comes out has not been producing like they were during the Mets big winning stretch earlier this year. They have a record number of blown saves and blown leads, especially in the late innings. That's all on the bullpen.
There's nothing worse than seeing a lead your team has, reversed because of the horrible bullpen. I've been bitching about it all along.
It's still exciting for me, more than depressing (so far)

maybe they win, maybe they don't...you've had plenty of clubhouse cancers in Philly, it's breath of fresh air when they're finally gone. Manny's played in all 46 or whatever games for the Dodgers since he's been there, had he stayed in Boston he wouldn't even have played in 30. He's a great player, but he tanked it to get out of town, and the Sox are better without a tanking Manny than with him. Would they be better with the Dodgers' version of Manny? of course, but that was never going to happen.

keep coming with your predictions, though...because I loved (all of) your celtics predictions. you know, like when you predicted preseason they'd suck; midseason they'd fade; beginning of playoffs they'd be lucky to win a round; second round they'd lose to cleveland; east finals they'd lose to detroit; finals they'd lose to LA.

the only thing that's going to save the Mets is that the Brewers are behind them.

I could see them doing some damage in the playoffs, once they've made it in and the pressure of blowing the regular season is gone.

wooly, we don't talk about tweety's bad picks
he's pretty sensitive about this
please lay off the little guy
thanks

I realise that I have a past to break with--an accumulation of inertia, wrong, foolishness, rot, junk.  A great need of clarification, of mindfulness, or rather, of no mind.  A need to return to genuine practice, right effort.  Need to push on the great doubt.  Need for the spirit.  Hang on to the clear light.

Wooley keeps better track than my bookie. So one wrong basketball prediction in the 4 years Ive been here is call for celebration in the snarg family?

I remember when the short sighted morons in Philly wanted TO gone. We'll see what your tune is this time next year.

What a sweet afternoon yesterday was.I got to watch the Mets show zero heart on the last game ever in their stadium and the panning of the crowd to show the crying fans was classic.David Wright is a pussy.Rollins is way better then Reyes and I think thats obvious now.Last year the champagne comment by Randolph really summed up the mets to me and this year his replacement didnt disappoint. What the fuck was with Jerry Manuel describing Santana's game the other day as "Gangsta"?The guy is 60 some years old and is using "Gansta" as an adjective? You guys are bringing this ass back next year?Thank god.Every time he would pull a pitcher and be on the mound talking to him I imagined him saying "Nice job, that was gangsta".You guys really need to blow up that team.

Manuel is good for the team, it's just plain and simple. Regardless of the words he uses.
Unfortunately, as old as I am I still use some 'hip' words like Mad in place or very or really. I don't mind that shit.
What I do mind is what you said- the lack of heart. But mostly, and hopefully this will be the last time I type it until 2009... the BULLPEN.
I'll get into your Rollins/Reyes/Wright stuff shortly.
This stretch didn't sting at all, compared to last year... maybe I'm getting used to it. Uh Oh.

I like Philly's chances against the Brewers.

Heart and fire start with the manager. You guys acted like you had 30 games left the last 5 games.Gangsta would not fly in Philly.Bullpen didnt kill them yesterday. They had bases loaded in the 8th and couldnt convert didnt they?

Haha nice pics.
Don't misunderstand me, I do agree with you on the lack of heart thing. I meant that it bothers me because it's TRUE, not because you pointed it out. I read that statement again, and I can see how it could be misinterpreted.
But their lack of heart usually comes AFTER the pen fucks it up. Your example (by the way, it was 1st and 2nd, with the rally starting with 2 outs) was again, AFTER the pen gave up the lead.

I hear what you're saying about the bullpen, its obvious that needs the most new blood.I think you are over looking the fact that during the biggest game of their season the Mets high paid lineup had just 4 hits and only needed 5 runs to win the game.Your big 3 of Reyes, Beltran and Wright had 2 hits combined.I don't think you can blame that last game on the bullpen and I really havent been impressed with the Mets clutch hitting all season.

What I don't get is you guys are going into next season exactly the same way you went into this season.Team coming off a scarring loss going into next season with a manager everyone is not sure of but is willing to give a chance to.Why?What has Manuel done that impressed you so much? They still didnt make the playoffs with a lineup that was supposed to be good enough to.That last game tells me all I need to know about the gangsta managers ability to motivate. Are you sure he's not Willy Randolph wearing dorky glasses?

Buster Olney had some interesting points about Wright getting too amped up for big situations.

Their offense isn't the problem though. Sure they only scored a couple runs in a do-or-die game, but they were only in that position because of their bullpen. The bullpen also cost Santana the Cy Young award.

There is a reason the Mets are the most hated team in the NL.Their attitude blows. You'd have thought they won the world series in the last 2 years. They need a shake up.

let's see...we've got Cubs, Phillies, and Red Sox fans here...

that means TD will show up when each of those teams lose, posting countless pics of devastated players and crying fans.
