The Systems Administrator
A young woman sits with a blanket over her shoulders and wears a novelty skiing hat. These are to keep her warm in an all-night session reading the text of a Unix manual.
Her tired, puffy eyes are shielded by dark glasses, and at her feet is a half-eaten pizza and two bottles of Guinness (empty), symbols of the strain that Systems Administrators everywhere are under when they cover out-of-hours help-desk requests.
She sits between two pillars representing the binary supports that hold up the computing universe. Behind her is a pomegranite-design throw from Oxfam symbolising the network firewall (and how flimsy it is).
The Systems Administrator is guardian of the gateway to the Computer Room, and only she knows the combination of keys to press on its security lock. And when you want to access the network, only she can set you up with a user account and password.
So be good to her, right?
