Bill Wrote:I'd love to do that, but I live on top of a mountain and I cann't dig more then 6" into the ground without hitting bedrock. What I do now that I've learned better: I have a 4x8 block pit, I dug out the bottom as much as I could and lined the bottom and sides with brick. (it's permanent) I put a chimney out the back about 2 courses up, and installed stainless steel rods 2 courses up.(to hold what I'm cooking.) I bought a steel lid for the thing so I can close it up, but it also doubles as a grill if I just want to cook a shit load of burgers or something. if I'm roasting a pig, I get up before dawn and burn about 1/2 cord of cherry down to coals, slap the pig in there, flip it once. and done before 4 in the afternoon.

Is there a way to make the cinder block wall double and fill in dirt between the two? The dirt does three things, it gives the flavor a distinctive taste, evens out hot spots, and the moisture prevents cooking too fast and drying out. As long as you drink the prerequisite amount of beer, you should be fine. That picture does make me hungry. ummm, Piggies.
Bill Wrote:Bill has beer drinking down to a science!
Ironcandle Wrote:Good man. Cool party pad, what state is that?
WoolyGoat Wrote:Hmmn...Bill lives near power lines. That explains a lot.
