Last night I played Tecmo Super Bowl...
#1

It was the Super Bowl. I was the 9ers... the computer was the Broncos. Early in the 2nd quarter Elway tried to scramble and Haley tackled him for a loss... It hurt Elway and he left the game...

Anyone know who Denvers backup QB was that year?

Abstract (Document Summary)

While [John Elway] rested in the locker room, [Gary Kubiak] passed for 123 yards and two touchdowns. After the game, someone taped the words "Prime Time" on Kubiak's stall in the locker room.

After overthrowing a receiver on his first pass, Kubiak fumbled as he cocked his arm to throw his second when he was hit by Fred Stokes, who was playing in place of [Dexter Manley]. Stokes recovered Kubiak's fumble at the Denver eight.

When the Broncos review the films, maybe Kubiak's two touchdown passes will make them forget the one Kubiak threw into the arms of Redskin cornerback A.J. Johnson to set up a 42-yard field goal by Chip Lohmiller with 6:57 remaining in the third quarter.

Must have been Gary Kubiak

I think this is a complete list of all Denver QB's. The superbowl you are talking about was in 1989. So who was the backup quarterback in 1988. Maybe Kubiak he was in 1989. But check for 1988.

Yep, must have been Kubiak.

Quarterbacked at Texas A&M under Jackie Sherrill. Then went to Denver for a long time. Got straight into coaching when he retired. Coached at A&M then back to Denver I think. Now he's a head coach in Houston.
