[Anhil8tor]

what are some of your favorite 80's band guitarist. I'd like to expand my vast knowledge.

TIA

[Irish]

Steve Via

[Tbagger]

Nuno.

I had a hard time typing that with a straight face.

[Vitamin E]

Warren DiMartini is the most underrated guitarist because of his band.
George Lynch and Dokken were one of the best complete bands of the era.
Mick Mars is one of the most overrated guitarist because of his band.

[Blondie]

Yngwie Malmsteen
Shenker
Rady Rhodes

Etc.

[Anhil8tor]

What about Jerry Cantrell or Dave Mustaine?

[Vitamin E]

Mick Mars...lol

I assume you're agreeing. Dude's all blues. I love the Motleys as a party band but not as serious musicians.

Bands like Talas, Nitro and Racer X were to focused on complexity and the technical side to listen to casually. Always had a classroom feel to it. I used to strech cassettes rewinding them trying to figure out the rifs

Great muscians like Chris Impelliteri, Vinnie Moore and Yngwie totally got it. Their songs had all of the pieces, a start, a finish, a brilliant solo, and more importantly tone, mood, color and emotion. Music is supposed to be art not science.

[Poppy]

Joe Satriani

[Irish]

Joe Satriani

agreed,

Slash was also a favourite of mine.

[Poppy]

John Lee Hooker

[Poppy]

Robert Cray

[Vitamin E]

Neither Cray nor Hooker were in 80's guitar bands...nor were you included in the list of experts.

So....SHADDAP!

[Poppy]

Close enough

[Vitamin E]

ahhh, NO, not really.
