Most of them arent interested in becoming citizens.Since when is our immigration system even capable of handling the actual amount of immigrants we get a year?Wouldnt it hurt the businesses that use these illegals because they would have to pay them a living wage since everthing would have to be on the books in order for the immigrants paperwork to be valid?You cant let someone in legally and them have them work at a $3.00 an hour job without the employer getting into trouble.We've let them in and out of our country for the last 100 years to benefit our economy and its worked so who really cares that much?If you stack up all the medical care we provide to these illegals compared to the savings thats passed onto the consumer in the end by them working cheap its the deal of the century for America.I understand the securing the borders argument when it comes to terrorism but focusing on the illegals like they are alqeida is ridiculous.

Employers get a break on the wages they pay the illegals, cook the books to cover the loss and eat the taxes on money they don't have. Imagine your walmart.
You pay a truck load of mexicans under the table to clean the floors.
It costs you 300 bucks. (just pulling a number outta my head)
To pay a citizen to do it it'll cost you 500 bucks.
now I'm not 100% certain but it seems to me the government would do better if they were collecting taxes from both walmart and the worker at a higher rate than just collecting from walmart on money they made, but don't really have. This leads to a trickle down effect that puts more money into the governments hands which would hopefully lead to tax breaks to americans on a whole. respectively covering the costs of higher good prices. so the only thing good to come from that would be having secure borders? maybe I'm just too closed minded but I don't see the problem.

I meant that in jest. The common retort to anyone against ILLEGAL immigration is that that they are a racist. Does not matter your logical reasons for being against it. They will usually try to muddy the waters by convienently leaving the ILLEGAL part off as well.

These immigrants make up about 5% of the workforce. Their are plenty of teenagers and others that are unemployed or underemployed will do the lower wage jobs if that workforce is not present. Now, if the companies are paying too little, they will have to raise the pay. This will increase the cost of goods somewhat. However, the overall good for the economy will offset this. Not to mention that the ability for us to spend more money per student educating our own children will pay off dividends in the long run as well.
This is not just about health care, Bird. The ILLEGAL immigrants are a tremendous drain on our public resources, including schooling, public assistance, traffic and so on. This is not a problem all over the country, but it is a tremendous problem in the southwest.
This is not even mentioning that the majority of the wages the ILLEGAL immigrants are making is leaving our economy. They pay little in taxes, and consume as little as possible. This is a drain as well.

I have a pretty good feeling we are not going to convince each other that we are each right or wrong. We can do this all day long, each of us making our points.

I'll play the whinny bitch on that point however I have to tell you that this effectively a reality (they send most of the money home thus disrupting the "attended flow of money within the own country") however this is a short/medium term problem; in fact most of the persons sends money over there to pay a better education for their kids (so they don't have to wash the plates in a restaurant), better housing, some even plan to run business in their countries.

At the long term it's a tremendeously effective way to lever a local economy thus creating new markets for YOUR economy. Ok they won't buy supercomputers or airplanes tommorrow but think about your kids in 20 years maybe they would appreciate that.
