So we had a meeting at work today and we all were told that instead of the traditional 3 days of holidays that we would normally get we are now getting 1.5 weeks of holidays now. On the upside the comapny is paying for them out of their own pocket and not using up our vacation time for them.

Anyone else get any sweet news like this lately?

nope...my boss man is a stickler about time off....I will be off for thanks giving and black friday but then I'm going to try and take monday off to get some hunting in.

I think he's talking about christmas thru new years.

I shut down my company a few days before christmas and don't reopen until after Jan 2nd. It just depends on exactly how the weeks fall. I pay my employees for 56 hours (40 hours, plus 16 for Xmas and New Years). That way the ones that want to go to Mexico will have time to go. Plus, it is tough to do any construction work during those weeks. So many people on vacation, the weather is bad, etc...

Sloowww time of year for me. I couldn't work much even if I wanted to. The downside is I'm considered an Independant Contractor and if I don't work, I don't get paid.
