This is great news. For those who aren't aware in 2006 ABC is dropping Monday Night Football to ESPN. ESPN is dropping Sunday Night Football to NBC. Why is this good? The NFL is only scheduling the first six Sunday Night games before the so the last eleven weeks will be TBA. The NFL wants to make the Sunday night game the premier football telecast. Previously they would schedule the 'would be' best games on Monday night. This sucked when teams like Tampa Bay win the superbowl one year, then suck the next and occupy two or three Monday Night games. The NFL was looking for a way to make Monday Night games more exciting. However, moving the best game from Noon Sunday to Monday Night would be a logistical nightmare for fans who bought Sunday tickets to make arrangements to stay until Monday. However, moving the noon Sunday game to Sunday Night isn't such an imposition. No extra hotel stays or missed workdays for the fans. But even better for the fans who don't subscribe to the NFL Sunday ticket, if your local coverage gives you a 'B' or 'C' game at noon while the rest of the country is watching the 'A' game i.e. Patriots and the Colts. That Pats/Indy game would likely be moved to Sunday night.

Good work on the schedule NFL! Now, please stop making rule changes that give WR's any more advantages over DB's, before you turn the NFL into the XFL-Lite (too much entertainment - too little sport)!

Once the 2006 season gets underway Madden will called the 'Game of the Week' on four NFL Networks, CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX. Pretty incredible. He should call an ESPN game to make it a perfect 5.
