Nah its actually true. My father is an engineer for a natural gas company in Utah and his office has been buzzing over it because where they find petroleum in large quantities there is usually natural gas around as well.

Man, they hit natural gas around where I live a few years ago. It has gone absolutely fucking crazy around here. You have to have 40 acres to set up a vertical well, and in the beginning they were popping up every 40 acres. Now most of the wells are horizontal. I think they can drill up to 5 miles horizontally and decrease the number of well heads.

The good wells bring the lease owners around $25k to $30,000 per month. I can't even imagine what a good oil well would bring. 1500 barrels a day, even if the land owner is not getting but $3 per barrel is still $4500 per day, or $135,000 per month. I bet they get way more than $3 per barrel.

Being the fact I don't own the mineral rights to my property I couldn't get much even if they did strike oil on it. Sad

Hey, the ground lease is worth something. They have to lease about 1 or 2 acres to set up the drilling rig. They also need tremendous amounts of water for drilling and the frac the well. So, you can make money on the ground lease and also on the water rights if you have water available.

I know what you're thinking now. You think we're all gay, don't you? Think we're all just a bunch of deviant lifestyle-living same-sex having motherfuckers, am I right?

I like yellowdog's idea. Let's get our boys out of Iraq for a week, and when we use up all the oil we'll send them back.
