The south Arlington Hooters served beer free of charge Wednesday, but it wasn't a St. Patrick's Day promotion.
For the second time, the restaurant has been denied a liquor license, after a judge ruled in favor of a citizen's group opposed to the restaurant. The group finds the waitresses' uniforms objectionable, and the judge agreed.
"The judge's ruling is correct," said Adam Vanek, the citizen's group's attorney. "It's the combination of scantily clad waitresses and the serving of alcohol that creates a volatile cocktail."
Hooters is appealing the ruling. They said that until then, they will serve beer for free.
"We're gonna do what it takes," said Hooters spokesperson Scott Wilkinson. "We feel we have the right to be here. People are selling beer and wine around us."
