Ever met any famous people?
#1

This is more of a Mrs. Ironcandle story than it is a famous person story, but...

The closest thing to me meeting a famous person happened during the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. We were downtown, drunk of course, one night and standing in front of Planet Hollywood. I notice a guy walking towards us with a hottie on one arm and a cop on the other. (noticed the hottie first, cop second, famous guy third for those who are keeping score) Anyway, as they got closer I realized it was Jim Belushi in the middle. I watched them get closer, and I said to Mrs. Ironcandle, "Hey, there's Belushi." That was as far as I was going to take it, because I believe that when the famous are "off the clock" they should not be harassed.
Mrs. Ironcandle, who happens to be from Peru, reads the situation very differently. As they pass by, the hottie bumps my arm and says nothing. I turned to say something to her, and the camera gets snatched out of my hand. Mrs. Ironcandle RUNS over to them and says, "Belushi, caan I take your peecture?". (not "Jim" or "Mr. Belushi", just "Belushi") He kind of looks around, and says "Sure". The hottie leans in for the shot, and Mrs. Ironcandle comes skipping back over to me as happy as she can be and says, "Who was that?".

I went to college with Lou Diamond Phillips (although back then he was only Lou Phillips). We took an acting class together and, long story short, he gave me a concussion....

Fine...in this particular class we happened upon some rope and decided to "improvise" a scene. Lou and another student swung the rope around while I jumped it chanting "my mother shortcake, jam on top" (or some other sort of stupid jump rope rhyme). Lou thought it would be funny to yank the rope while I was in the air which caused me to flip over landing on the concrete floor, knocking me out and opening a sizeable gash on the side of my head. Huh

I can see why you offered the short version! Wink

My mother shortcake, jam on top?

Yeah, I took acting class in college, so I know the drill. I also learned I can't act. :p

I had a beer and discussed boxing with Leon Spinks and also met Robin Yount and various Milwaukee Bucks (Marcus Haislip, Toni Kukoc, Michael Redd, and Desmond Mason).

Bonky, that's quite an impressive list.

As far as meeting and talking with them, not many. I hung out with slipknot in Cancun, I sat next to David Faustino (Bud Bundy on Married With Children, but you knew that :p ) at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, and I saw Michael Ironside at LAX. That's all I can think of right now. Not many stars here in my town.
