NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS YOU CAN KEEP
#1

Are you sick of making the same resolutions year after year that you never keep? Why not promise to do something you can ACTUALLY accomplish?

Here are some resolutions that you can use as a starting point:

~ Gain weight. At least 30 pounds.
~ Stop exercising. Waste of time.
~ Read less. Makes you think.
~ Watch more TV. I've been missing some good stuff.
~ Procrastinate more. Starting tomorrow.
~ Spend more time at work, surfing the web.
~ Take a vacation to someplace important, like to see the world's largest ball of twine.
~ Don't jump off a cliff just because everyone else did.
~ Stop bringing lunch from home--eat out more.
~ Don't have eight children at once.
~ Get in a whole NEW rut!
~ Start being superstitious.
~ Personal goal: Don't bring back disco.
~ Don't ride in a car driven by Britney Spears.
~ Speak in a monotone voice and only use monosyllabic words.
~ Only wear jeans that are 2 sizes too small and use a chain or rope for a belt.
~ Spend my summer vacation in cyberspace.
~ Create loose ends.
~ Get more toys.
~ Get further in debt.
~ Don't believe politicians.
~ Break at least one traffic law.
~ Don't drive a motorized vehicle across thin ice.
~ Don't swim with piranhas or sharks.
~ Spread out priorities beyond the ability to keep track of them.
~ Wait for opportunity to knock.
~ Focus on the faults of others.
~ Mope about faults.
~ Never make New Year's resolutions again.

I don't make resolutions. Why set myself up for failure? That, by the way, is a good reason not to get married, bam Wink

I'll be honest, it sucks. I haven't quit smoking completely yet, but I have cut back a good deal and trying to do more constructive things rather than smoke. For example, what would've normally been my 10am smoke break today has now turned into my 10am walking break.

i don't smoke and work out 3-4 times a week. it isn't hard for me. i just know that people replace other habits (eating) when they quit smoking.

Plus, "they" (whomever they are) say it's best to approach one at a time, not both at the same time.

for me.....

I eat healthy and normally everyday, therefore not needing to diet. Healthy eating is a way of living, not just after you've indulged so much that you need to lose the weight.

exercise???? havent been to the gym in 10 years.... I'm active everyday with work and my little guy.... always on the run.... so it helps. any form of exercise weather walking or biking or what ever turns you on, is good.

When I quit smoking it was really hard to manage my time, some people eat, some shop... it's what you choose it to be, and it can be nothing.

Your defeating the whole purpose of quiting something if you replace it with another vice.

I disagree. Unless you are replacing smoking with drinking or drugs, quitting smoking, even if it invovles overindulgence in food for a short time, is never a bad thing. If your goal is to lose weight and quit smoking, I'd tackle the smoking first, since it's the most dangerous for you.

overindulging with food is bad for your heart among other things. and most times your vice then becomes another habit you have to quit. I dunno, I dont use a crutch to help me along... I just do it.

Overindulging in food is not nearly as bad as smoking. Come on, we're not talking about the heffers that appear on the TV. Most people will say they could stand to lose anywhere from 5 to 25 pounds. If I was 25 pounds over weight and I smoked, I'd still attack the smoking first. It's way more detrimental than being a tad overweight.

The reason they say not to tackle both at the same time is because people will often fail at one, and then feel like a failure, so give up on the 2nd. If you feel you can do both at the same time, all the power to you, but for most people, success is enhanced by climbing one mountian at a time.

And I'm sorry, but caring for a child is not considered exercise. I've tried that one. :d
