Winter Storm Shuts Down Texas
#21

Flumper Barflusterbutt Wrote:We were ready for it a few days ago when the ice came through, but they used up all the sand for the bridges on that. Now we are just fucked. I think Rick Perry may declare this a national emergency.

That would mean they werent ready.

"School" sounds better than "juvenile holding facilities."

I know that at one time, if the superintendent could make it to the central office at 7:00 am in his 4wd, then school wasn't going to be canceled. It's still the same guy. The college I work at has the same same policy as the public schools. We've already had 1 snow day, the board voted to let us out 1 day early for Christmas because of forecasted ice storm, and I got sent home at noon on Friday for ice. They jump the gun a bit.

You americans are pussies. I dont think theres been a snow day in my city since before I was born. The busses put chains on and you're going to school. Even when its -50 (-58 F) with the windchill and your eyelashes are growing icicles, you're going outside and going to school/work.

The thing that gets me the most is all the retards out there that think its a good idea to go for a drive when everything is covered in 3inches of ice down there. And then its all a big deal when these people crash and die. DUH!

The only thing that might close a school here is an earthquake. We go around hoping for them.

Snow closes schools here, but only when you can't move because of the snow. Even then, people still weren't deterred.

The Chair recalled the heavy wet snow that fell on Calgary on March 17, 1998, causing the University to cancel classes. The institution remained open for those who wished to work or study, and who could safely reach the campus. He expressed the institution's thanks to the grounds crews that coped with the staggering task of clearing snow on the campus.

17 March 1998, Calgary, Alberta: The city experiences its worst March snowstorm in 113 years, measuring 32 cm (13 inches) of snow at the airport and from 40 to 45 cm (15-18 inches) in other parts of the city.

But, you're all dumb enough to drive when theres 3 inches of ice all over?

It's got nothing to do with being smart. It's darwinism. Place all the idiots in one country, in hopes you'll all crash and kill eachother eventually.

I have a one ton four wheel drive extended cab pickup. If I take it real slow, I can make my way through the 1" accumulation that we have.

My fave was when they cancelled the hockey game in Denver because of snow. Huh I don't know if you know what hockey is, but it's fucking played in the cold, usually outside where there is SNOW! Hockey would never be cancelled in Canada because of snow. I think it's against our national sportsmanship policy.
There was 24" on the ground and there were blizzard conditions biiiaaatch!!! How many people are going to risk their lives to see some hockey when the roads haven't been plowed?

Son, I am Disappoint.

I don't think we're ever up to 3", but we get ice more than snow. We can't shut down because of ice. Yes, people are idiots and people die. December brought the 2006 car accident deaths to an all time high.

At the Rodeo the other night, they announced that the Colorado Ranchers, who have been hammered by some of the blizzards yall have had, have turned down all government support. They said they have made it through tough times and they'll make it through this one.

Rack them!
