Serious Help! I'm off to get an iPod
#1

That deadrag Tom isn't going to send me one, I know it.

So, I need some help.

There are basically 3 models, the shuffle, the nano and then the one with the TV screen.

First question, is the Nano much better than the shuffle?

If I go with the shuffle, should I get the one with more memory?

What attachments should I get?

The Shuffle is a piece of shit. From what I know about it you plug it into your computer and it randomly pulls some songs off, I don't think you have much control.

The nano is kinda cool, but only comes in 2 and 4 gig versions, and I don't know how much music you have.

I have the iPod photo, 30 gig drive and it is about half full. It is bigger than the nano, but it also holds more, so I like it.

Also, buy a cover for it, those things scratch worse than a whore with the crabs.

EDIT:
the iTrip is $50 at Radio Shack and will broadcast the iPod over FM so you can listen to it on your car stereo.
the Bose base for the iPod is also pretty cool

if it was for my pre-teen daughter, I'd get the one with the media screen and the docking station with the speakers, and if you guys routinely take long trips, a good set of head phones with a car charger.

ps. don't forget the cover.

Well, its for my daughter. She's only 11.

wtf did I just do?

sorry I was thinking wav...

I have a very large mp3 libary....for a good quality mp3 expect around 5 megs..so I'd expect 200 songs per gig.

I hear the batteries are a bitch on that one. Won't hold a charge very long. I'm afraid at her age she would fuck with the video more than anything and constantly wear down the charge.

You might have trouble finding them. I'd try Best Buy or Circuit City first. They'll have accessories for it as well. the 4G nano cost 250 i think, for 50 bucks more you get video, and 26 more GB, plus photo capabilities. cases for the new Video versions are hard to find in stores, so you might have to order online, but I can help with that.

The nano is smaller and "cooler", but it will only come in a 4 Gig. The more hard disk space the better, means it can hold more song.

I have 2700 songs on my 30 gig, and it is not quit half full. The 4 gig will hold about 1000 songs. Cooler, but less capacity. For an 11 year old cooler might be better. Just make sure you get the cover for it.

Okay:

iPod Nano 4G
Case
iTrip from Radio Shack
Bose docking station
car charger.

Now, how many songs will this hold?

About 1000 songs. Depending on the length of the song, I guess.

The day after I bought my new car the dealership started a "buy a new car get an iPod nano" thing. I told them that was bullshit, but I didn't care too much since I have an iPod.
