Bye Bye Money
#21

Yeah, $90 just for the uniform. It's (I think) $200 for the spring select session. It's $140 for the winter indoor session (uniform included in those). I think fall select session is $300 (and if the uniform from spring session still fits, then you don't have the $90 uniform cost.) And then $75 (uniform included) for spring say session and another $75 for say fall session.

Day-um! He'd better suck at all his sports or I'm gonna have to take up prostitution to pay for uniforms. :S

lol Yeah, it's expensive. My whole feeling on it though is if my kids want to do something productive (play a sport, an instrument etc), I have to let them. It may end up being something they really enjoy and/or are extremely good at. Plus it keeps them busy. Some people might say that's spoiling them, but I think it's constructive. I don't go out and buy them a toy just because they want it, you know? I think if I was doing that, they'd probably be a bit spoiled. When it comes to extracurriculars though, I can't tell them no.

In another month, my daughter starts t-ball. She's already in dance and she wants to do summer theater.

I totally agree. If they're doing sports, they don't have time to be out doing drugs and causing trouble. Thankfully his grandpa would have no problem chipping in for sports and activities so I'm not concerned about it. With how crazy active he is at just 1 year, I'm almost positive he'll be into sports of some sport!

I agree. With my (step)son, his mom was an addict. She never did any extracurriculars (because her mom was an addict too.) Now my son, has a half-brother from his mom too. He doesn't do anything. No sports, no extracurriculars of any kind. I worry about him. With my son, I know that we're teaching him to do the right things and keeping him active so that hopefully he doesn't fall into the same path.

You need to learn and develop your skillset in addition to playing games. games are obviously important (and more fun) but practice is what's going to make you good. ('sup Iverson?)

Gladwells no expert on sports.Him and simmons pretend they are.

Doesnt bringing up Iverson make your argument go to crap?If you are a world class athlete from birth thats 95% of being great.Practice will help the average person more then the genetic freak.

I was joking about Iverson's "practice" press conference, not making a commentary on how much time he's spent practicing in his career. genius.

I know and it inadvertently blew up your contention that more practice for youngsters equals better results on a world class level.

Not anymore than any other kid slinging crack on the streets of hampton virginia.

Do you think JaMarcus Russel practiced a lot as a kid and thats what got him drafted #1?
