Its being addressed Bill.
The conflict arises from our "no deletion" policy. However, as leeman pointed out, spam is in the rules of the site as a viable reason for deleting the post.
There is still some question around quantity. If someone comes in and posts just a link to their site, or just a smiley. Is it spam? If they post 10 such posts, is it spam? 50? 100?
There needs to be a line. I'm not sure where.
