Bill Self deserves Coach of the Year this year. Guiding a team with 0 starters back from last year and only 20% of their scoring returning makes him one of the top coaches in the nation without a doubt. Look at what Billy Donavan did in the weak SEC the year after winning back-to-back...an NIT birth I believe. Bill Self goes out and wins the Big 12 over one of the best teams in the nation in OU.
Billy D won back to back. Not the same as winning one and making a tournament.Self would need to win it all this year and then come back and have a good team in 2010 for that comparison to be accurate.
Colorado must have been a real tough test for the jay hawks.Big 12 is seriously weak compared to the Big East and ACC.That makes Selfs accomplishment less impressive.Oklahoma is not as good as people thought 3 weeks ago.Top coach yes.Coach of the year no.
