âNobody got loud except to tell âJuâ to just shut up,â Robinson cracked, adding Wrightâs main message was âto do what coach Self tells us to do. It wasnât a pleasant vibe. Everyone was pretty upset and angry about how the season was going.â
The likeable Wright took to heart Selfâs edict to play hard from the start against the Gators, who had won six games this season by an average of 40.5 points a game. He admitted he had a lot to say at the playersâ meeting.
As far as Selfâs meeting with the players, which led to the players deciding to gather, Robinson said: âHe laid it on the line and said we had to come out with more intensity and focus if we wanted to come out with a win.â
âThey (players) havenât been real happy with me which would be an understatement,â he said, âand Iâve not been happy with them the last couple weeks. The Ball State game was very disappointing to me because we didnât play like we can â with energy and passion. We challenged them and knew theyâd come out with energy and effort against Florida. Tonight there were no thoughts on anything other than Kansas.â
âSo much is maturity. Remember, last year we were up and down, too, until we got to a certain point (after struggling at the Maui Invitational and other early games).â
We'll see I guess....
It doesnt matter until March.I bet they give up another crap loss before the tourney.
See You In Toledo
