The other thing now that I think about it was how the governor general does have some real power if the parliamentary decisions she's just supposed to ceremoniously ratify are not 100% clear.She could view it any way she wants it seems like especially if one party is backing her up on it.

But if the PM is on the way out or just not a favorite son of the British Empire she can go her own way when things are vague.Seems like most of Canada doesnt understand her position.Its kind of like the Vice president in America being the tie breaker vote in the senate but never being elected by the people for that position.

I get that but how can a party maintain that power when its whole premise is leaving the country even though it does not have the votes for that within its own constituency?The party is based around an idea that its own people really don't want.I get they want the benefits from being different and the leverage it provides but it sounds like a scam.

Yeah, I honestly don't know enough to comment further, but historically, her role is largely ceremonial. She's not often called upon for any real matters affecting the country.

Without sounding overly simplistic, many Quebecois are stupid. Those who support the Bloc support the protection of Quebecois interests. A fair number do want to seperate, but no, not enough for a majority. But look at the way or politics work: a party that is not supported by the majoirty of of Canadians is in power.

The Bloc is only EVER heard from during an election. And they have 10% of the popular vote. Conservative is only at 36% and they run the country.
