Car crashes into bike race
#1

Here's hoping my first post in months isn't a repost Sad

I'd give this guy the death penalty.

Quote: MONTERREY, Mexico (AP) -- A car plowed into a weekend bike race along a highway near the U.S.-Mexico border, killing one and injuring 10 others, police said.

A car plows into a crowd of bicyclists participating in a race on a highway near the U.S.-Mexico border.

The 28-year-old driver was apparently drunk and fell asleep when he crashed into the race, said police investigator Jose Alfredo Rodriguez.

A photograph taken by a city official showed bicyclists and equipment being hurled high into the air by the collision.

Rodriguez said Juan Campos was charged with killing Alejandro Alvarez, 37, of Monterrey.

Authorities said the wreck happened 15 minutes into the 34-kilometer (21 mile) race Sunday along a highway between Playa Bagdad and Matamoros, across from Brownsville, Texas.

Campos said he is an American citizen living in Brownsville. The U.S. Consulate could not immediately confirm that.

"We are looking into the incident in terms of whether American citizens were involved,"

Let's not be hasty. The dude that died could have been a child molester which puts us right back up to 100%.

Always the optimist.

I like the irony of all these go getters being up early in the morning with their spandex and helmets on ready to ride 50 miles and then on the same road but on the exact opposite end of life a sleeping drunk drives right through them. The picture kind of looks like human bowling which is the only type of bowling I endorse.

there is no death penalty in mexico

I realise that I have a past to break with--an accumulation of inertia, wrong, foolishness, rot, junk.  A great need of clarification, of mindfulness, or rather, of no mind.  A need to return to genuine practice, right effort.  Need to push on the great doubt.  Need for the spirit.  Hang on to the clear light.

the guy will rot in jail unless he has a shitload of money
and he will be there a while, at any rate
it isn't that easy to pay your way out when someone dies
drunken driving is pretty serious shit, even down here

if they take you in, ya gotta pay for your own blood test
and wait in jail while they process
forget about bail and shit like that
you are guilty until proven innocent: napoleanic law
it's a bitch if someone drops the hammer on you
it can take a long time to get out if the politics are not in your favor

on the other hand, the big jails are not too bad, all things considered
like small towns: stores, booze, drugs, conjugal visits in private rooms, sports, chess, etc

there are a lot of people in there living with their families in their own private cells
then there are the guys just happy to be there, roof, running water, food
they never lived so well, actually enjoy it and don't want to leave

anywho, if ya gotta be in jail, mexico ain't so bad
