I have a dilemma - bam - 02-17-2010

I work with one of my good friends (known her since we were 14). About 4 years ago she got married and I got to be “the wedding singer” for her. Apparently, the girl that works in the office next to her got engaged over the weekend and is starting to plan things etc. My friend was talking to about her wedding etc and they got on the topic of live music versus a dj. My friend brought in her wedding tape to the newly engaged girl and now the newly engaged girl (who I really don’t know that well), wants me to sing at her wedding. I’m not sure what to do at this point.

I guess I'm kind of torn at this point. I love to sing and I sing well. The only reason I sang at my friend's wedding is because she begged me to. I haven't sang in a "public" setting since then (unless you count drunken karaoke) and I guess I'm a bit nervous.

In times like these, I don't know how you can turn down the money. Ask for a substantial check and see if her heart is really in it. If still so, take the easy money.
