Goat - littlelolly - 08-22-2008

My second FFB team is a lot more solid than the one in the league with you. Mich and 8 can attest to that, I think. Pre-drafting for me is the way to go. I got all big for my britches in the league with you and didn't do that, thinking I could handle it. So I got tripped up and did stupid shit.
Even with my missteps, I'll probably beat you anyhow. Big Ben isn't going to repeat 2007. Marvin Harrison will have a short time to prove himself, but that means your #1 receiver Reggie Wayne is in a timeshare--and you can't afford that in your week one and two matchups--particularly week two. Atlanta wants to focus on their running game, and with Roddy White in double coverage now, it'll be harder for him to have a season like last year. I'm ashamed of you for wasting your second round draft pick on Ryan Grant. Bad hammie, no preseason, and he opens to the best defense in the league. For the sake of your standings I hope he can do something. Brian Westbrook is a solid fantasy option for you, but he can't carry your roster.

I'd dissect your bench, but this is already getting verbose.
Oh, and you're still an asshole.

Goat - littlelolly - 08-23-2008

I mean I made some horrible picks on Wednesday, but I didn't eff myself over with a Ryan Grant round two for chrissakes.

Goat - WoolyGoat - 08-23-2008

I had a nice response typed up, but it would be a waste of time.

Here is why you two have worthless opinions:
8 (61) New England
10 (80) Vinatieri
11 (81) Dallas
11 (84) Kaeding

If either of you win, it'll be due to sheer luck, because neither of you knows what you're doing. I honestly expected much better from Bird. An ex-Patriot kicker 6 rounds from the end of the draft?

I was kinda counting on lolly not acting like a broad all season, but apparently one tiny little joke/dig re: taking Brees too early has sent her off the deep end.

Goat - BIRD33 - 08-23-2008

How can you question anyone taking someone to early when you picked fucking Ryan Grant with your #2 pick?Don't think we havent noticed that you havent tried to defend\explain it.It was a horrible pick. When I first saw it I assumed that you turned on the autodraft. You could have had him three rounds later.Good thing there are no question marks regarding the Packers offense this year.

My squad is better at every position. Its not even debatable.

Manning is better than Ben.
Burres and Houshmanzada are better than Reggie Wayne and please explain who this Roddy White fellow is you have starting at WR?Thats a fucking joke!Atlanta's offense is real solid, nice pick!
Tomlinson and Jones-Drew are better than Westbrook and the overvalued Grant.
Tony Gonzalez or team cancer Jeremy Shockey?
Earnest Graham is better than Parker since they drafted Parkers replacement this year and I've got him on my bench (Rashard Mendenhall).
My bench is better too.Laverneus Coles on my bench is better than your starting WR Roddy White(who?).Great pick by me to get favre who will be gunslinging to prove the packers wrong.

The only thing you have to say to me is I picked my kicker and defense to soon because you know you can't fuck with my starting lineup. Its not even relevant when you look at who I already had to that point.I was just rounding out a stacked team with great kickers and defense.I can't wait to smoke you by 30 points you faggot.

Ryan Grant will be fine. Every other back available at that spot is either sharing time (Jones-Drew...and btw, Taylor > Mendenhall, if we're talking about other's backups) or had injury concerns. Grant was one of the top 3 backs in the game when he took the starting gig last year, and every fantasy expert out there has him ranked 10-15, so I really don't see what the big deal is.

I'm glad you think your team is great, but you proved by your draft "strategy" that you don't know what you're doing, which just makes your "awesome team" nothing but an accident. You can yap about my team all you want, but all you did was draft "name" players and fill your starting roster out as quickly as possible. That's what women do.

Your picking Vinatieri is the biggest joke of the draft. Not only did you take a kicker in the 10th round, there are probably 10 undrafted kickers who will have better seasons. But hey, you needed a kicker and you recognized the name, right?

Who is Roddy White? He had more rec yards last year than Holt, Welker, Houshmandzadeh, Driver, Burress, etc...But I'm not surprised you've never heard of him.

WoolyGoat Wrote:I was kinda counting on lolly not acting like a broad all season, but apparently one tiny little joke/dig re: taking Brees too early has sent her off the deep end.

No the dig that sent me off the deep end was the "I'm kinda disappointed in you" or whatever it was. I've already admitted that I tried to draft without pre-ranking and I made some mistakes--but I think taking Brees in the third wasn't too early. Paddy had taken Brady in the first, someone(?) and Bird took Manning and Romo in the second. He was the next QB on the list so I drafted him in a league that is all about touchdowns. In a FFB league where the QB is somewhat devalued, I would've stayed with a RB or WR--not the case in our league. And I happen to think Brees is gonna have a good year. A better year than Matt Ryan, arguably, who can't seem to connect with your boy Roddy White to save his life.

Did I misstep on my draft. Oh hells yeah. I have about three spots on my roster I'd consider a stretch. Ryan Grant, Fred Taylor, Big Ben, Chester Taylor...you've got at least as many as I do.

And I'm not sure what "acting like a broad" is supposed to mean, since you seem to be the defensively moody one...at least I can back my arguments up with some sorta substance. I didn't go for the big names to fill my roster, like you said women do. Torain and Hardy aren't household names, friend. Try again with a better argument--perhaps that nicely worded response that you claim to have backbuttoned.

you talk better than you draft.

littlelolly Wrote:A better year than Matt Ryan, arguably, who can't seem to connect with your boy Roddy White to save his life.
White did fine with Joey Harrington and Chris Redman last year.

littlelolly Wrote:Ryan Grant, Fred Taylor, Big Ben, Chester Taylor...
Keep riding the Ryan Grant thing if it makes you feel better. Fred Taylor (1200 yds last year) is my 4th running back and Chester Taylor was the last player I selected, and is going to put up big numbers when AP gets hurt. Your Big Ben thing is baseless too.

littlelolly Wrote:And I'm not sure what "acting like a broad" is supposed to mean, since you seem to be the defensively moody one
Didn't necessarily mean you, sweetheart

littlelolly Wrote:...at least I can back my arguments up with some sorta substance.
respectfully disagree

I never said you specifically did.

I hope I have pleased you.

Goat - littlelolly - 08-24-2008

I've said repeatedly that I talk better than I draft. I had a bad draft. I got nervous playing with the big boys. I've admitted that. Whoopdefucking do.

WoolyGoat Wrote:I was kinda counting on lolly not acting like a broad all season, but apparently one tiny little joke/dig re: taking Brees too early has sent her off the deep end.
This is the part where you were referring to me, sweetheart.

How's this for substance: Big Ben had what, 32 touchdown passes last year? Previous career high was 18? Dood averages what--180 yards per game? The whole reason why Mendenhall was drafted was to improve the offensive run and take pressure off the passing game. Roethlisberger will have a good season, but it won't be a season like 2007. I would've drafted Derek Anderson over Big Ben. Carson Palmer, even.

And no, Goat, you haven't pleased me in the slightest. Once upon a time you were one of the good guys. Thought my knowledge of football (which really isn't too shabby and you know it) was cool an' stuff. I look forward to week three. Not saying I'm gonna win, but I look forward to it.

Goat - WoolyGoat - 08-24-2008

littlelolly Wrote:Whoopdefucking do.
apparently not. I made one joke and you freaked. people make the "oh, you picked him way too early" joke in every fantasy draft for every sport. it's a passing joke designed for a chuckle, not an invitation for you to prove you belong. BUT, if you'd like to debate Brees, my only point is that you took him too soon. I'm sure he'll have a terrific season, but he would have been on the board a round or two later and then maybe you wouldn't be stuck with Michael Turner as your #2 RB (what's that you were saying about Matty Ryan?).

littlelolly Wrote:This is the part where you were referring to me, sweetheart.
right, I forgot that. see, there are three types of women who play fantasy sports:

1 - doesn't know a thing, picks homers and other well known players, loses every week.
2 - knows her stuff, but talks too much and tries too hard to justify every last decision she makes because she's desperately trying to prove she belongs. (I keep on thinking of that line in "A Few Good Men" when Kaffee asks Galloway why she's always reading him his resume..same thing.)
3 - really knows here stuff, and is confident enough sit back and not be obnoxious trying to fit in.

If you want to go back to the "I'm disappointed" thing, I thought you were a #3, but you're a #2, clear as day.

People get career highs sometimes, that's what happens. He's 26 years old and threw almost half as many interceptions as Anderson and Palmer did last year. That aside, you're questioning Ben's track record and recommending Anderson instead? I'm sure Anderson's one season as a starter is a much more reliable barometer. As for Palmer, I like him a lot, but there are a lot of strange things going on in Cincinnati that I just didn't want to have to deal with. I have no idea where you pulled that 180ypg thing.

I'm still a good guy, this is just fantasy sports. and I know you know football, but after out conversations last season, I was expecting a "type 3" performance out of you in this league. Type 3s are rare, type 2s are...well, whoopdefucking do.

Goat - littlelolly - 08-24-2008

This has become tiresome. Seriously. You're boring me. I'm over it. And if you honestly think I care about belonging on an internet anything...I let you get a lot farther into the circle of trust than I shoulda allowed. Think I'm talking too much? Fine. Wish granted. Apology accepted and we'll see you week three.

Goat - WoolyGoat - 08-25-2008

I just have a fun time debating fantasy football theory. It's a non-serious topic in which you can really lose yourself. I'm not really seeing the connection to your circle of trust or how my fantasy football views make me a bad person, though. Seems to me those are unrelated items, but unfortunately for me that does not seem to be the case.

Nobody is saying Grant isnt a good player just that when you add in the fact that the Packers are in trumoil his value slips well below a #2 pick in your draft.

Women pick the best players available? Please offer a critique of where I made a mistake in my first 6 picks. You can't.This woman schooled you on draft day.

I like the Colts to score a lot of points hence the Vinetarri pick. Not rocket science but with all your fantasy football strategy you probably win your league every year, correct? Also my team was stacked at that point while you were scrambling to pick up Lee Evans and his 5 td catches last year.

I love the faith you have in your BC boy Ryan.Good luck with that.

The over under on how many more games I win than you is 4.

Ryan Grant is projected to get more touches than any back who was still on the board at that time. If I'm taking a back in the first two rounds I don't want one who's splitting carries.

And you got me, I was really scrambling to pick up Lee Evans, aka my 5th receiver. Very solid point.

Good call with the Colts scoring a lot of points this year...are they going to score more than last year? Your 10th round kicker scored a whopping 118 (fantasy) points for the Colts last year, while the guy I drafted in the very last round scored 150 points. Awesome pick right there. At least you'll recognize your kicker's name.

If you beat me it'll be no different than some jerkoff tourist sitting at a poker table catching miracle river cards to beat pros in Vegas. Sometimes people who don't know what they're doing just get lucky.

Goat - WoolyGoat - 08-28-2008

I think your draft showed no foresight whatsoever. You picked big name players and you're excited because you think your team is stacked, when in reality every team is stacked because it's an 8 team league.

All I'm saying is that I'm not going to be impressed by any success you do or do not have.
