George would have had to give up his early Larry Bird rights, which in essence means he would have given up leverage in this summer's free-agent period, for the trade to go through. An NBA source said late Wednesday that the deal still had a chance to be resuscitated in its current form. That would require a change of heart by George. George said he heard some catcalls from the home fans at American Airlines Center.
Plus, who'd want to go play for the Nets without Kidd?

Whats the actual $ he'd lose in free agency because of this?It can't be that much its freaking deven george.
