I did the 2-year upgrade on my plan and got a cute little Samsung flippy camera phone.
With the 2-year contract renewal, the phone was $18.72
If I had been a total n00b, I would have gotten the phone for free on a 2 year contract and for $18.72 on a 1-yr. contract. Similar fucked-up deals were offered for each specific phone. I think the Motorola Rayz0r, or whatever the fuck it's called, is retarded. What's the advantage to having such a thin phone when that thinness is offset by the hearty length and width? It'd be like walking around with half a pack of 3x5 index cards on your belt.

ALso, Wal*Mart is the only place that even does this "upgrade". Other dealers don't want to fucking talk to you about getting a new phone.
What a nice way for cellular companies to show appreciation to current customers, eh?

Anyways, I took a picture with the phone and I'll show yous guys as soon as I figure it out.

I use Nextel at work, because it has the phone and/or radio option. You have to fucking call them all of the time to ask about new plans. There are always cheaper and cheaper ways to do your minutes for this or minutes for that. They never tell you about any of it, but if you ask then they will.

And, it never fails, if you were starting fresh (noob) you would get a much better deal.

mmmm...not really. I have a pretty good rate plan that suits my needs nicely. It would be nice if they'd offer comparable, or better, deals to existing customers...you know, sort of a "thanks for the loyalty" kinda thing, but I don't really think I got fucked. Maybe fucked out of $18, but so what?

Most Cell phone companies have Customer Loyalty programs that are offered by the "carriers" or "premium" agents only. Verizons program is called "New Every Two" and offers an addition $100 to customer as a "thanks for your past business". Wal Mart is not, and never will be a "premium agent as this requires "exclusivity" to the carrier. So yeah, they fucked you out of not only $18 but also an any additional money you could have saved by moving to a more expensive phone and still getting it free.

I hope this makes you feel a little better with your purchase.
