He made it official yesterday. After discussing it with his pastor and his uncle he decided to forgo his senior year and go pro. He told reporters from his limousine after the annoucement that this decision had nothing to do with money.

Vit E's stance on College Athletes that go pro prior to graduation....
Make 'em pay back their scholarships.
I'm sure the NBA, NHL, MLB, and NFL owners would be willing to make it part of thier signing package to pay off the scholarships. Hence more money available to the kids who don't have a chance to go pro to get an education they'd actually use.

University of Texas gained far more in revenue from Vince being there than they put out in a free education. Both sides got something out of the deal.

I hear ya. However, there is a limit to the Scholarship fund. It would be nice to put some of that money back in the pot.

Fair enough. But without players like Vince, there would be no pot at all.

As long as the NFL requires players to be 3 years seperated from high school. College football will always have a leg up on other collegiate sports as for exceptionally talented athletes.
P.S. Anyone heard from Maurice Clarett?

If he didn't make this decision based on "the money", then what other reason would there be? Seriously.

He can't say that money matters. Your average chowder head football fan would scream bloody murder if a player chose one team over another because they offered an extra million dollars. Meanwhile, the average fan would leave their job in a second for an extra five grand.
My personal favorite was Reggie White. He said that he was leaving Philly but "needed to go to a large market team so he could continue spreading the word of God to inner city children." When the smallest market team in the league offered him the most money he said that he prayed and that God told him to go to Green Bay.

Yeah, I don't know who is going to get who yet.
I hear that Houston would be better served with Reggie Bush. But then I heard that Vince might end up in Tennessee and could play under his idol Steve McNair. I read that in a paper today. Not sure why New Orleans wasn't even mentioned.

I dont guess there is any chance Matt Leinhart will fall to Dallas or Dallas could trade up to get him. We need a quarterback.

Houston needs to trade away that pick and get two decent linemen in return. Domanik Davis is a decent back, even a stud like Reggie Bush would have ahard time running behind that line. Although in two or three years once that team finds their identity it would suck to see Reggie going to the pro bowl and a 49er.

The saints will more than likely trade their pick simply because benson dosen't like to pay anyone. While most teams drafting high need more than just one player.. it is very rare to find a coach that will trade his whole draft to move up. That being said.. that deal ended up working out well for new orlenas. Sure they missed out on some nice talent... but nothing special was taken in their place. They also landed Deuce a few years later...

So playing college football isn't enough of a thrill for him? Well, how'd he like to do some time in a prowl car. Oh, let's see how he'd do with a life like mine. It'd be a thrill a minute when you get an unknown-trouble call and hit a backyard at two in the morning, never knowing who you'll meet-- a kid with a knife, a pill-head with a gun, or two ex-cons with nothing to lose. Yeah, that's a thrill for you. Not like having to learn hut one and hut two and throw the ball to another kid hooked on nose candy with a pocket full of roofies.

Tennessee would need a new offensive coordinator if they picked Young, cause Norm Chow is not writing an offense behind a running QB like Young.
