Nic Cage usually does pretty good movies, but I'm having a hard time getting very fired up about a weatherman that carries a bow and arrow around.
From the preview, Cage is a weatherman that gets a lot of cold drinks thrown in his face for some reason. Walking down the street, driving in his car, any situation and "boom" somebody throws a big gulp in his face.
Now, I assume from the preview I saw, that this constant coke in the face thing, pisses the dude off so much that he gets a bow and arrow and now he uses this new weapon to fend off his big gulp attackers.
I just don't get it.

He is kind of creepy, but he was okay in that movie with Cher where he played the dipshit guy that she wanted to marry.

So how does weather fit into the story?

Well, from what I could tell, the dude is a weatherman. Not sure how that really matters, but that's his job.
He really gets pissed off about having these sodas thrown in his face. In the last little scene from the clip I saw, he is drawing back his bow and arrow on a city street in NY City and he says something like "Nobody messes with me now that I have my bow and arrow."
Maybe I'm the only one that doesn't find this story line interesting.

It is a relationship movie. About his relationship with his Daughter, his faterh, and his wife. The weatherman part and the bow part are just window dressing.

In these times of the Katrinas, Wilmas, tsunamis, (supposed) global warming and other weather trends--you'd think a movie titled The Weatherman would take advantage of the times.

See, they never mentioned the faterh and daughter or wife in the trailer I saw. Only the sodas in his face and he's pissed and gets a bow and arrow to carry down the streets of New York.
So, what does the bow and arrow have to do with these relationships?

Here I thought it was about a group of radicals from the 60's.

He is working on changing his life. The bow inspires confidence, allowing hiim to make changes in his life.

In this movie we see Cageâs portrayal of the barely-holding-it-together David Spritz. Cage is in rare form here. His character has so many idiosyncrasies.
He is pelted with food and drink on the sidewalks of Chicago. Itâs the saddest thing Iâve ever seen. As a form of meditation, David takes up archery. He has no rapport with his kids, despite clearly loving them so much. His attempts to be a hip dad are embarrassing.
I remember when Cage shot a scene in which he finally gets revenge on the food throwers of the world. There was also a subplot involving Spritzâs son and a possible child molester.
