When my bother was around 13 or 14 years old he started working at our local pub. Collecting glasses, emptying ashtrays, stocking shelves, that kind of stuff. They donât have border jumping labor in Ireland like we do here and kids can work in bars as long as theyâre not pulling pints and theyâre off the premises by 10pm. Itâs an old family run place, with living quarters above the bar. At the time the only family member living up there was the father, whose 3 sons now ran the place. The old man was pushing eighty and had a bunch of health problems. The drink was slowly killing him. His sons had installed an intercom system whereby the old guy could buzz downstairs if he needed anything. One day when my brother was working the old codger buzzes down and one of the senior bartenders, a guy called John, went up to check on him. He was having a stroke. Heâs sprawled out on the floor shaking and sweating. John dials 911 for an ambulance and the guy on the phone tells him to keep the old guy cool until the ambulance arrives. John runs downstairs and grabs the first kid he sees, who happens to be my brother, and tells him to take some money from the till and run to the local store to buy a sponge, with which he planned to keep the old man cool until help arrives. John doesnât tell my broâ why he wants the sponge. He then calls the 3 sons and fills them in on the situation. Before my brother gets back the ambulance arrives, and one of the sons.
As theyâre standing around attending the poor old guy my brother arrives into the room with a big sponge cake.
Using his initiative he had also purchased some birthday candles.
That was 12 years ago and he is still know as The Sponge or Spongey.

My first thought was "Isn't that interesting that the emergency number in Ireland is also 911!"

It's not. I play to the level of my audience.

I see the problem, general attention span here is quite low, so your text wasn't noticed at first and the few who noticed it quickly lost focuss after some disturbing details.
Use simpler words next time :
- my bro, young, tits, fukkers lisen to me, old man dying, buys wrong cake "pm for details".

But see, that's where you lost me. I read that and my critical mind thought "Bullshit" so I stopped reading.
Oh, that and the soundtrack I was downloading finished and I had to stop everything to sing along.

I am not remotely creative enough to make it up.
