A cat riddled with 50 shotgun pellets in a "sickening" attack is making a miraculous recovery.

Archie, a two-year-old black tom, is on the road to recovery after his body was sprayed with pellets.

RSPCA inspectors thought the plucky tabby was sure to die after seeing an x-ray of his horrific injuries. Vets have now said that his immediate prospects have improved but he is blind in one eye.

The injured cat was discovered in a lane in Bakewell, Derbyshire.

His owner Yvonne Price said that when vets examined her pet they feared the worst.

"When I first saw him at the vet's I just burst into tears," said the 51-year-old.

"They told me it was touch-and-go, but then Archie is such a little fighter he just wouldn't let go."

Vets have managed to remove one pellet but the rest will have to remain in the cat's body.

if you want to hear some true anecdote about my gran-granfather he organized every year a cat-roast (he was in the foreign legion), he partyied with a few of his left buddies (all his company went killed in some attack in the desert).
