You said he was in radar? Always? I never got to be a radar controller. Where I was stationed we only had a VFR tower with a BRITE II radar.

VFR = visual flight rules
IFR = instrument flight rules (radar)

A BRITE II radar was just a basic radar that showed blips on final approach, but no altitude, no aircraft name, etc.

So if weather was shitty enough, our planes had to land at ICT (civilian airport that has radar).
