You lose two fucking smackoffs in one week and now everyone puts you on "ignore". >_>

And, we were comparing soccer to golf.

Not is a long time.
The fact that the kicker is a pussy is something I knew long before Rome even got his first gig at UCSB.

Golf is harder than soccer. I am not saying golfers are tough guys by any stretch by the way.
I brought football up as an example of all the really good athletes playing other sports and why our soccer team got owned by a nation of the size of 2/3 the size of CA with 11 million fewer people.

When was the last hockey, basketball, or baseball medal the U.S. won in the Olympics (excluding the girls)?

Give it a few years, with the development of the youth leagues, greater exposure, and better competition, the U.S. will eventually have a top tiered team.

How many ex soccer players are in the NBA?

I remember the little MVP Steve Nash was pretty good. Most people's strengths play to different sports. You don't see many althletes that excel at more than one.

The beauty of soccer is that you don't have to be a hulking 300 lb guy to excel.

SanDog Wrote:I completely understand it. I played for a few years. Was actually okay at it. It is not a hard sport. Don't mistake physical exertion for difficulty.
Hitting a golf ball precisely and consistently is much more difficult than kicking the ball through the goal, I don't care how tired you are.
Not to mention that there should never be a tie in any fucking sport.

Football and hockey both have ties so I don't get that point. How many club pro's can shoot even par or below on a good day?How many clubs are there? How many regular members can shoot close or better than even?A ton.How many 48 year old lawyers are capable of playing pro soccer? It takes more effort to be a high level soccer player with conditioning first of all and then the touch thats involved is way more advanced since your runnning and don't have 5 minutes to stand over a shot.

Bird33 - SporK - 06-24-2006

Bird33, are you going out to vegas for the series?

-SporK

Bird33 - Anhil8tor - 06-24-2006

I fucking hate golf.. I can't watch and don't want to play it. I put golf, tennis, bowling etc etc in the same TV viewing category..

I can watch soccer to an extent..

Bird33 - BIRD33 - 07-07-2006

Had lunch with some customers yesterday that went at least 3 hours and hooked up with my boys on the links apparently pretty drunk. This was an email I got this morning that was sent to all my friends.

While playing golf at SO and So Golf course yesterday, I started to receive strange phone calls. An BIRD33 kept calling rambling about Vodka Gimlets and other alcoholic beverages. He then called sixteen more times during the front nine demanding to know what hole I was on.

He insisted I meet him at the third hole, but I insisted he meet us in the parking lot. When he did, he through his clubs and shoes across the Cart's bin, stood on the back bumper, and proceeded to berate us with insults in an attempt to get us to drive him to the tee boxes.

Finally, he accepted the fact that he needed his own cart. When he went in to get one, we drove to the tee boxes. A few minutes later he rejoined us, gently saying hello by crashing the side of his cart into ours.

When it was his turn to hit he placed his ball just to the left of the ladies tee. Noticing a group on the tenth tee had observed his week attempt, he felt the need to scold them. "Fuck you assholes, you can go fuck yourselves," was the message he had for them.

They looked on, actually they stared in confused amazement, not knowing how to react. BIRD then perplexed them further, as he drove past his ball and into their fairway. There he dropped a ball and hit back onto ours.

He had trouble keeping his clubs in his bag throughout the rest of the round. Not to mention, his bag had trouble staying on his cart, as he drove it much the same way the Duke boys handled the General Lee.

And if you are wondering, his score reflected his state of mind. I won't throw out a number, but let's just say, BIRD+Vodka+Golf=$$$ for anybody with a clue.

Enjoy your day Gentlemen.
