I'm basing a lot of this on how many times they've been ranked in the AP top 25 and times they were ranked #1.I'm probably off on some because they were before my time.

Boise St being in the top 10 invalidates the whole thing. When did their program start, who do they play thats good?

It doesn't invalidate anything, those are just all time winning percentages. You can filter it how you like and draw your conclusions from there. For the purpose of this discussion, you'd obviously take out Boise, Miami (OH), S Florida, and Central Michigan.

I just posted it as a comparison. Texas and Oklahoma are way higher than on your list, and USC is way lower.

317 wins with that percentage puts them at 450 or so games, about 40 years worth? was some of that time spent in 1AA, or worse, in the WAC?

South Florida is in there too. they started their program a decade ago, and if they're in there it must be counting their time in 1AA. half their D1 wins have come this season

toss them and a few others out though, and you see how the "name" programs stack up against each other I guess. most of them are schools we've already mentioned

I couldn't find it in text, but I found a .pdf on the ncaa site. I got tired of typing the rest of the numbers.
