2. The percentage is not important. That is the same as saying the US gives the most to the world in real dollars, but as a percentage it is not enough. Bad argument. As for hiding things to protect the bottom line, entirely possible, likely even. Oversight should be part of it. No doubt. But I don't remember saying anything about that.
3. Doomsaying is irresponsible. Recycling and enviromental responsibility, as I previously stated, are good things and should be encouraged.

I think we are mostly on the same page about this. I just don't like the Gestapo tactics some of the most voal of the eviromentalists are using. And they get the majority of the press.

Reputable scientist have stated they believe climate change is partly man made and their thinking is the majority I believe. If enviromentalist and green bldg corporations use this as a marketing tool who can blame them. They didnt come up with the science they are just running with it like anybody else would. Those doomsday scenario's arent out there for shits and giggles it could be a reality so we better all pay attention to it.Remember one of Gores platforms back in 2000 was taking goverment money to study ways to get away from combustion engines to reduce our dependancy on foreign oil and cut harmful byproducts and he was practically laughed at for it and now we all can see he was right so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt on this.I don't trust corporations to fix any problems that effect their bottom line so it should at the very least be regulated.I'm dealing with a lot of green building especially on goverment projects where leeds points gets you tax breaks so this type of thinking is good and isnt going anywhere.

It was a lot a bloviating and scare tactics. Recycling and energy conservation are good things and I encourage that behavior in everyone, but don't fucking bullshit me for a political platform.

Also, I read somewhere that the oil companies are investing more in alternative energy sources than any other industry or government. They know their supplies are limited so they are starting to hedge their bets.

The "green" industry is fast growing and is just as irresponsible, with their "end of the world" scenarios as a marketing ploy, as the oil companies are paying other groups to dispute global warming.

What a fucking sham it is from every angle.

It's funny watching slow witted people fall for the spoonfed propoganda that is doled out by people who gain to profit from the status quo.

Please provide to me peer-reviewed scientific papers that dispute global warming. That means a paper that is submitted for review and commentary by the scientific community at large.

Papers written by a single, well-educated whack job do not count.

same with hmmmmmmmm. I think that sand og was agreeing that enviromental responsibility is good, and pointing out that extremism on either side of an argument is idiotic

BIRD always has to turn everything into a political debate.

Obviously Gore is a sold-out douche bag. But, the fact of the matter is that the environment "might" be in trouble. And it could be declining much faster than we ever imagined.

The trouble is, its like buying insurance. You don't know if you need it until the problem happens. But can you afford to do without it, knowing that you might need it.

I think that is a very fair assessment.

Isnt the enviroment a political debate at this point? You practically had GOP senators laughing at Gores position yesterday.Did the GOP sell out to energy companies possibly?

Who did Gore sell out to?Christian right?Neo-cons?

I don't see anyone here disputing global warming and I fail to see the relevance in quoting me in your diatribe.

Watching politicians debate global warming, same sex marriage, abortion rights, bird flu, or gun control has never been anything I gave a fuck about. Its always political. Democrats vote one way, GOP votes another. To a man. Its statistically impossible for that many people to have the exact same position on any subject that is brought up. So the whole thing sucks to me.

So, listening to politicians debate these subjects means less than a spoonful of whale shit to me.

I never said Gore sold out. He probably has the best intentions. Probably has some kind of agenda, I don't know. Most of them do. I didn't read any of his speech or see any of it on television. Those guys talking means nothing to me.

I'm afraid of rats. My dog was excitedly sniffing around my covered BBQ and so I took the cover off, opened it up and an oven mit in the cabinet was all chewed up and a bunch of snail shells were in there. Rat, right?

If the oven mitt smelled of man ass and old spice, it could have been 8.

What you all didn't understood is that it's not a "environmentalists / tree huggers" stuff vs "evil corporations".

1. What is needed is a change in the productions means. People are now focusing on "green energies", meanwhile it's good; the real fuss is created by the industries (who are the major polluting things.
Until now we had processes who were harmfull on the long term, the industries were depleting the environment taking the stuff they needed. The real problema (apart fucking the environment) is that at the end you were finishing up by drying up your business (no more ressources and shit). Industries now have to shift toward a long term development (durable development it's called)

2. Actual "big oil" business will be "water business" in 50 or 100 years. Soon our kids will know Exxon/BP/Total as being their furnisher of good clear water more than oil.
