Jacks and Fives

You need at least two players for this game. Each player is dealt out four cards (2x2). The top two cards are never to be looked at ever. You may look at the bottom two cards one time at the very beginning of the game, remember the cards. The rest of the cards are placed in the center of the players.
Jacks equal zero, and fives equal zero. Ace is one, queens and kings are ten. The numbered cards are worth face value.

The point is to get the lowest sum of all four of your cards. Each person takes turns picking the top card from the pile. You may trade it with one of your cards, any one. If not then start a new pile with the unwanted cards, face up. The next player can take that card from the top of that pile or a card from the original pile.

You may never look at your top row cards, so the only way to really find out what they are, you gotta take a chance and trade for a card. when you feel taht you have a low sum, then knock on the table. Everyone then flips over all their cards and adds them up. The one with the lowest number wins, and everyone else must drink for as many seconds as their cards adds up to. The counter may count as slow or as fast as he wants.

[Image: Jackson,%20Lindsey.JPG]Jackson, Lindsey `04 ( adventure-jackson@yahoo.com or lynzyrock@hotmail.com ) Lindsey definitely considers herself to be a country mouse. She had never lived inside city limits until she started her college career at SMSU. Living in town has its positive points, but it does not compare to living in the country. The activities that she enjoys involve being in the country, away from civilization, including rock climbing, camping, canoeing, skiing, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities. She has always lived on a river and on 100+ acreage, giving her an appreciation for the outdoors, and what it can offer. She grew up in Mountain Grove, Missouri and graduated from Norwood High School in `00. During those years, she worked at the SMSU Fruit Station. Lindsey says, “I love doing active things. While in college, every weekend we could, some of my friends and I would go on a camping/rock climbing trip in the middle of nowhere. This really gave me something to look forward to all week. Being in the outdoors really puts things into perspective for me, and helps me to realize that my problems really are small, and that I will make it through. I like to get more people involved in activities such as these so, hopefully, they gain the same perspective I have. This will continue to help me in my career because it helps me to be a more well-rounded and happier person, and it gives me more energy throughout the other activities that I am involved in. I chose the commercial emphasis because my plan was to work in a resort setting. I love the beach and tropical places, and hopefully my career will keep me there. I believe I would have been just as happy, or perhaps happier with an outdoor emphasis, but job placement in that area seemed unsure. I worked at Oceania, Abbott Resorts, Destin, Florida for my practicum doing programming, and enjoyed it tremendously. It was a very close-kit organization which gave me the opportunity to work endless special events in the recreation field. At the same time, I took on a second job at a rock climbing wall at a different resort. Last November, I attended a resort conference in Oregon to check out internships. These are the kinds of activities that will help any student to gain a good position after graduation. I plan on attending as many conferences and workshops as possible in the future, as well as volunteering at special events in the recreation field. Hopefully, I can continue to build my network of contacts to build my career.” Lindsey was recently internship coordinator for all of Abbott Resorts until her company was hurricaned in `04. While at SMS, Lindsey was active in the Natural High Club and RLSA. Her hobbies include sports, climbing, mountain biking and camping. During college years, she worked at the Clarion Hotel and Classics Sports Bar. She is certified in climbing. Her goal upon graduation was to make herself well-known in the recreation community as a professional. Lindsey’s parents are Julie and Dick Jackson of Norwood, Missouri. Most recent word from Lindsey is, "Well, I think I am finally settled here in New Orleans, just in time for Mardi Gras. I got
a place in the French Quarter, so I'll be right in the middle of it all. Just a quick update on what's going on with me now that I finally got settled back in after the hurricane. I'm now a production coordinator for a destination management company here in N.O. called Accent on Arrangements. I'm really enjoying myself. I travel all over the place; just got back from a production that I coordinated in Cancun for Toyota's sales incentive program. I actually met and worked with Dave Poppenhagen `88, an SMSU alum himself. Hopefully pretty soon I'll be able to start looking for an intern (Lord knows I sure could use one!), so I'll keep all of you posted. Everything else is going good. I'm not much of a city girl, so this is quite a change for me, but it's really not that bad. There's quite a bit of history here...some pretty cool stuff. I also recently have taken my passion for rock climbing to the next level and started climbing competitively, and signed up for another adventure race, so I'm a pretty busy girl.
I hope everything is well with all of you back in (cold) Missouri, and look forward to hearing from you in the future. (’04)
